IMG_3865If you’re flying United Airlines, you’re likely to notice major changes for the almost 90 year old airline service. As one of the world’s largest providers of air transportation, United Airlines is now working to update not only its look but also improve its connections with savvy technology consumers. In June and July, United Airlines has unveiled new employee uniforms, a new mobile app, is offering bed seats for international flights from North America, and has rolled out new frequent flyer benefits.

A New Look
Does your flight attendants look different? No, that’s not a trick question. For the first time in the airline’s history, employees will wear more visually-branded uniforms. Featuring a more stream-lined, professional complement of clothing, employees will be able to choose from a wardrobe of options including two new styles of dresses for women. Staff may also choose from light blue colored shirts and black blazers and pants, depending on their job description. This change brings the airline’s uniforms into the modern age while providing flexibility and increased wardrobe choices for employees. Looking good United!

Updates on All Mobile Platforms
On July 2, 2013, United Airlines released a major update to its mobile application for the iOS, Android, and Blackberry 10 platforms. The primary goal of the release is to allow passengers more flexibility for managing their travel details in real time. For flight delays or cancellations, passengers will be able to change their itinerary and search for alternate flights. The update also includes an improved user interface.

United Airlines Offers Unique Luxury Frequent Flyer Rewards
United has partnered with Mercedes Benz and Marriott Rewards to offer frequent travelers access to enhanced member benefits. By partnering with Mercedes Benz, Premier members can take advantage of $5,000 incentives for leasing or purchasing a 2013 or 2014 Mercedes. For Premier members who purchase a CLS or E-Class before September 3, 2013, they’ll also receive 25,000 bonus miles. Limited to U.S. dealers only and details are available at http://www.united.com/Mercedes.

More Changes to Come
Pilots will have a redesigned uniform in late 2013. The same colors will remain a part of the uniform but similar to the other attire changes with staff, the pilot uniforms will be updated to a more modern look.

United has committed to make mobile boarding passes available at all domestic airports in fall 2013. Currently there are only 40 locations internationally which offer the service. And of course, for premium ticket holders, a new bed option is available for international flights. Currently 183 of United’s planes have them available.
